Keçiören

One of Ankara’s most populous central metropolitan districts, Keçiören is home to one of Turkey’s and the world’s major meteorological observation centers.

The historic Old Agricultural School (Ankara Eski Ziraat Mektebi)—which Mustafa Kemal Atatürk chose as his supreme headquarters when arriving in Ankara in late 1919 to plan the War of Independence—is preserved here as a museum. The room where he drafted battle plans is curated as the Atatürk Room. The complex also houses the National Meteorology Museum.

Additional local landmarks include the monumental Estergon Turkish Cultural Centre, scenic urban waterfalls, the Pet Park, Ihlamur Valley, and the Keçiören Cable Car offering sweeping panoramic city views.
