Kahramankazan
Known for Kurtboğazı Dam recreation grounds, ancient artifacts in Karalar village, and sweet, fragrant Kazan melons.
Located 45 km northwest of Ankara, Kahramankazan developed along the Istanbul highway, gaining municipality status in 1971 and becoming an official district in 1987.
The district holds rich archaeological potential, documented by ancient Roman and Galatian remains excavated in the Avşar area of Karalar village.
The district’s fertile alluvial soil yields the renowned aromatic Kazan Melon, celebrated each summer at the annual Kazan Melon Festival. The district is also favored for outings to Kurtboğazı Dam.
