Haymana
World-renowned for having some of the finest therapeutic thermal waters since antiquity, alongside the ancient Hittite sanctuary of Gavurkale.
Located 73 km southwest of Ankara, Haymana is world-famous for its mineral-rich thermal springs. Scientifically ranked among the world's most therapeutic waters, their healing use traces back over 3,000 years through Hittite, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman eras.
Gavurkale, 60 km southwest of Ankara, is one of Anatolia's most significant Hittite rock-sanctuaries. Excavated in 1930 upon the personal directive of Atatürk by archaeologist H.H. von der Osten, it features monumental rock reliefs of Hittite deities.
Every June, the town hosts the International Haymana Thermal Springs Festival. The district also encompasses the historic battlefield of Mangal Mountain, where crucial turning points of the Battle of Sakarya were fought.
