Located in Altındağ, Ulucanlar Prison operated from 1925 until 2006, holding prominent Turkish writers, poets, and politicians before its restoration as a museum in 2011.

The museum preserves authentic communal dormitories, solitary confinement cells ('Hilton'), the historic execution gallows, and personal belongings of iconic literary figures like Nazım Hikmet and Yaşar Kemal.
