Column of Julian
A 15-meter fluted Corinthian column erected in 362 AD in Ulus to commemorate the imperial visit of Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate.
Standing in the historic Hükümet Square in Ulus facing the Governor's Office, the column was erected in 362 AD to celebrate Emperor Julian's visit to Ancyra during his military campaign against Persia. It is colloquially known as the 'Belkıs Minaret'.
Rising approximately 15 meters on a stone base, the column is constructed from superimposed fluted stone ring drums and is crowned with an intricately carved Corinthian acanthus capital.
