Hittite Monument
Monumental bronze replica of the 4,500-year-old Hittite Sun Disk of Alacahöyük, erected in Sıhhiye Square in 1978 as the capital's civic symbol.
Standing prominently in Sıhhiye Square, this monumental sculpture was executed in 1978 by Turkish sculptor Prof. Dr. Nusret Suman.
The monument is an enlarged bronze recreation of the 2500 BC Hatti-Hittite Sun Course found in the royal tombs of Alacahöyük, featuring the celestial sun disk flanked by sacred stags and horns, representing Ankara's ancient Anatolian roots.
