Çengelhan

Monumental 1522 Ottoman caravanserai built by Grand Vizier Damat Rüstem Pasha, now restored as the Çengelhan Rahmi M. Koç Museum.

Constructed between 1522 and 1523 during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent by Grand Vizier Damat Rüstem Pasha, Çengelhan stands facing the main gate of Ankara Castle in the historic At Pazarı square.

A classic two-story Ottoman caravanserai with an open central courtyard, it was masterfully restored between 2003 and 2005 by the Rahmi M. Koç Foundation to house Turkey’s first dedicated industrial and transport museum.
