Houses of Ayaş
Traditional 19th-century timber-framed Ottoman residences with cantilevered bay windows (cumba) lining the historic streets of Ayaş.
Preserved throughout the town centre of Ayaş, these traditional two- and three-story wooden residences are built into steep slopes following the historic street layout.
With stone foundation basements, sun-dried brick infill, wide timber eaves, and ornate projecting oriel windows, they represent authentic Ottoman vernacular architecture.
