Akköprü
Historic 7-arched stone bridge built across the Ankara Stream in 1222 during the Seljuk reign of Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I along the Baghdad trade road.
Situated in Yenimahalle at the Akköprü junction, this monumental stone bridge was constructed in 1222 under Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I by Kızıl Bey along the historic trade road leading to Baghdad.
Featuring seven pointed stone arches made of white cut ashlar and basalt, the bridge historically served as the ceremonial departure and welcome point for caravans, merchants, and pilgrimage convoys entering Ankara.
